Steven Pynt

Steven Pynt has over 35 years’ experience in law, accounting and business management.

After graduating in law, Steven completed his articled clerkship at Dwyer & Thomas Solicitors before working as a tax consultant with the accounting firm Duesburys, which subsequently merged with Ernst & Whinney.

 

In 1985 Steven established his own legal firm and in 1988 merged his firm with Michell Sillar McPhee where he became a Partner. He subsequently established the firm Healy Pynt and later McDonald Pynt Lawyers. Steven remained a Director of that firm until March 2010 when he left to join Muzz Buzz Franchising Pty Ltd.

Steven has held a number of Public and Private company board positions. He is currently chairman of Ephraim Resources Limited, and Global Health Limited, and non-executive Director of Gondwana Resources Limited. He was a director of Muzz Buzz Franchising Pty Ltd from 2003 – 2017, being Managing Director from 2010 – 2015 and Legal Director from 2015 – 2017.

Steven was previously Chairman of the Commercial Tribunal of Western Australia, (now part of the State Administrative Tribunal) which dealt with Commercial Tenancy legislation, Credit Act and other commercial disputes and applications. He also taught Ethics and Professional Responsibility to Articled Law Clerks and was a member of the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal. He is currently a casual lecturer in law at the Australian School of Management.

Steven’s main areas of practice are Franchising, Business and Corporations Law, Property Law including Commercial Leasing, Wills and Estate Planning.

It is a trust created through your Will on your death to give your beneficiaries (the person(s) you leave gifts to) flexibility in dealing with the gift/s you give them. Briefly, you leave the gift/s in trust to be held by the trustee/s for the benefit of your nominated beneficiaries in accordance with your wishes as spelt out in your Will.

An Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) is a legal agreement that enables a person to appoint a trusted person – or people – to make financial and property decisions on their behalf.

An Enduring Power of Guardianship is a legal document that authorises a person of your choice, to make important personal, lifestyle and treatment decisions on your behalf should you ever become incapable of making such decisions yourself. This person is known as an enduring guardian.

An Advance Health Directive is a document that contains your decisions about future treatment. Treatment includes medical, surgical and dental treatment and other health care. You can make an Advance Health Directive in which you either provide consent, or refuse consent, to future treatment.
Probate is the legal process that a Will of a deceased goes through whereby the Supreme Court reviews the Will to ensure that it is in order and complies with the law. If the law is complied with the Court issues a Grant of Probate which then empowers the executor to administer the estate of the deceased according to the terms of the Will.
